Below you will find brief descriptions of some of the various types of bicycles on the market today. Give them a look and then come on into The CRANK and tell us about the kind of riding you'd like to do. We'll find the perfect bike for you, and make sure that it fits you - and your budget - to a tee.
Road Bikes - Lapierre, Diamondback, Raliegh
Traditional lightweight bicycles geared toward touring or racing on paved streets. These bikes have drop handlebars and no suspension.
Comfort - Torker, Diamondback, Raleigh
Most bicycles are designed for dirt, pavement or rocky downhills; comfort bikes are designed for you. These bikes are best suited to the recreational rider. They have either front or full suspension and an upright riding position. From the comfort saddle mounted atop a plush suspension seatpost, to the soft anatomic handle-grips and adjustable stem - everything on these bikes was designed with your comfort in mind.
Hybrid - Torker, Diamondback, Raleigh
The speed, comfort and agility of these bikes make them perfect for commuting, sport and fitness. The riding position is not as upright as on a Comfortbike and these bikes are lighter and more efficient. These bikes are perfect for either paved streets or maintained trails (packed or gravel). Whether you’re goal is fitness, fun or to reach a destination, a hybrid will get you there.
Mountain - Lapierre, Diamondback, Raleigh
For the off-road enthusiast, these bikes are built to handle rough terrain, muddy conditions, and whatever else you might find playing out in the woods! Mountain bikes are equipped with either front or full suspension.
Women's - Lapierre, Raleigh, Diamondback
Bicycles designed specifically for the wider pelvis, longer legs and shorter torso of a woman's body. Bikes are available in Road, Mountain, Comfort and Mode styles to suit any kind of riding that you like to do.
Cyclocross - Redline
Searching for that unique mix of road racing and mountain bike racing? Try Cyclocross! Specially-designed bikes that resemble road bikes are raced on mountain bike trails. Sometimes you're riding your bike and sometimes you're running and carrying it - whatever gives you the best possible time.
BMX - Redline, Diamondback
The Crank has a whole line of BMX bikes, specializing in the categories of Racing, Freestyle and Jumping.
Juvenile Bikes (12" - 20" wheels) - Diamondback, Torker, Lapierre, Raleigh, Redline
Designed for the 2-year old to the 8-year old rider. These bikes come with baskets, padded bars, bells, tassels and other fun accesories. Bikes may use either coaster brake and/or hand brake systems. 12" - 16" models usually include training wheels. Optional training wheels are available for 20" bikes.
Folding Bikes / Beach Cruisers - Lapierre, Torker, Dahon, Raleigh
These are unique bikes for particular folks, not for everyone. Folding bikes can be easily packed in a trunk or a boat hold or strapped to an RV for use in getting around marinas and campgrounds and such. The Beach Cruiser is the epitome of style; the speed is moderate and the mood is relaxed. It is a bike to see and be seen on. Old-fashioned style and modern technology combine to create a timeless piece of retro elegance.
