2009 Classes, Boat Demos & Special Events Calendar
Boat Demos
We will be conducting only private boat demos this year. They will still be held at the State Hill Boat Lauch (Blue Marsh).
There will be $15 fee per person to arrange a kayak demo. This entitles each person to test-paddle up to three boats with a 20-minute time limit per boat. Boat demo fees must be paid in cash, in advance at The CRANK as we cannot accept money or conduct business at Blue Marsh Lake, where we do all of our demos.
Friends and family are welcome to join you for your demo but any person who wishes to try out a kayak must have their $15 fee paid in advance at The CRANK.
Demos will be held rain or shine. We will get your contact info when you sign up and will get in touch if a demo has to be cancelled due to electrical storms, high winds or an act of God. Refunds will not be given, but store credit will be issued if we are forced to cancel a demo for any reason. If YOU wish to re-schedule a demo and get store credit, you must call at least one day before the demo date to let us know.
Boat & Gear Demos require no special equipment. PFD's and paddles are available for use, free of charge, to the customer. Anyone under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult parent or guardian to try out boats and equipment on the water. Unless otherwise noted, all Boat & Gear Demos will be held at the State Hill Boat Launch on Blue Marsh Lake.
Group Paddle Information:
Group paddles require a PFD (personal floatation device) be worn by each paddler. Night time paddles require a white light visible for 360 degrees. Headlamps are highly recommended for paddling comfort and safety. Remember to dress for the water - NOT the air temperature! You are responsible for your own safety and proper condition of your safety equipment and knowledge of it's use.
Group Paddles are an informal get-together of friends, family and interested paddlers and all are welcome. These outings are not guided tours or classes and as such are not officially sponsored or sanctioned by The CRANK. Paddlers with less experience or shorter boats may have trouble keeping up with group members in longer kayaks and may wish to pair off from the main group in order to proceed at their own comfortable pace.
Call us at The Crank (610) 898-1500 -- for detailed information on proper equipment and nighttime water safety.
Please Note:
Dates and locations for all classes, trips & events are subject to change and possible cancellation, pending evaluation of wind, weather and water conditions. Your safety is our greatest concern!
